Examples of Apical Meristems / Intercalary Meristems/ Lateral MeristemsMeristem Definition: Meristems are actively dividing immature cells that form new cells by cell division.

Based on the position meristem are classified into Apical Meristem, Intercalary Meristem, and Lateral Meristem

Apical meristem occurs at the growing apical points of the plant.
Example: The growing tips of the root and the stem.

Intercalary meristems occur between to permanent tissues.
Example: at the base of the monocot leaves

Lateral meristems occur in thin layers along the sides of the stem and the root.
Example: Cambium which increases the thickness of the stem and the root.
