Antitranspirants are the chemicals that reduce the rate of transpiration.
The important antitranspirants are ABA (Abscissic acid) and PMA (Phenyl Mercuric Acetate). PMA reduces transpiration by partial closure of stomata.
The rate of transpiration is also reduced by using some film forming substances like plastics, low viscosity waxes and silicon emulsions.
