Input devices are used to enter data and information into a computer. The main function of an input device is to take input from the user and convert it into a form that is understood by a computer.

- Digital Pen
- Graphics Tablet
- Barcode Reader
- MICR reader
- OCR Reader
- OMR reader
- Card Reader
- Biometric Device
- RFID reader
- QR code scanner
- Digital Pen, is also known as a stylus, captures the handwriting or brushstrokes of a user and converts this analog information into digital data. It is also used to point, select, draw objects, and more on a touchscreen device by placing it directly on the device.
- Graphics Tablet is a touch-sensitive device. It is also known as a drawing tablet or pen tablet. It is generally used by artists, architects, illustrators, fashion designers, cartoonists, and so on.Â
- Barcode reader is a handheld scanner. It reads or scans the barcodes that appear on different items using light beams. The stored information is displayed on the monitor. A barcode is a pattern of black or white lines of different thicknesses. This pattern contains product information, such as its name, price, weight, and so on.
- MICR reader: The Magnetic Ink Character Recognition reader scans the characters that are printed using a special ink called magnetic ink. Characters written in magnetic ink can be read by the computer even if they are covered with signatures or any other marks. This technology is mostly used in banks.Â
- OCR reader: The Optical Character Recognition reader converts printed letters as well as typed text into data that a computer understands. An OCR first scans the text and then produces a digital image of the text. The computer recognises the characters and then gives the output which a computer can understand
- OMR Reader An optical mark recognition reader is used to read a printed form with bubbles and boxes filled with ink or dark pencil. When an OMR sheet passes through a beam of light, The optical mark reader detects the marked area. The marked bubbles or boxes reflect less light than the unmarked ones. This technology is called Optical Mark Recognition.Â
- Biometric Device: A biometric device is a security identification device. It is used to authenticate the identity of a person based on some unique characteristics, like fingerprints, facial images, and voice.Â
- Card Reader can read the data stored in a card and pass it to another device. The information is stored in the form of a barcode, magnetic strip, or computer chip.Â
- RFID Reader: Radio Frequency Identification Reader used to gather information from an RFID tags.
- QR code Scannar: Quick Response Code is a type of barcode that contains a matrix of dots.Â
