Example of Partial Stem Parasites or Semiparasites

Some plant parasites are green. They are able to manufacture their own organic substances. The parasites depend upon their host for water, minerals and some other chemicals. They are termed as partial or semiparasites.

Viscum - Mistletoe Berries
Example of partial or semiparasites are Viscum, Loranthus, Striga, Santalum, Cassytha.


Viscum (Mistletoe)  that grows on apple, oak, silverfir, poplar, walnut, etc.

Loranthus (Dendrophthae) is also a partial stem parasite which grow on Acacia, mango, Dalberggia, Albizzia etc.
